API DEVELOPMENTS
Eco Tools – basic applications to help designers
Ecodesign has created several API’s which integrate seamlessly into EPLAN to help designers increase their efficiency:
Our API’s can range from inserting a simple revision cloud around a design change to fully automated design solutions. Watch EcoTools video
To use the APIs, all you would require is the EPLANs API runtime add on, which is relatively inexpensive and available from EPLAN.
The API Runtime can be added onto any EPLAN P8 Select and Professional licences.
Our APIs are available for purchase.
Please get in touch for a quote on our current APIs or if you would like us to create a customized solution for your application.
Eco Schematic Generator (ESG) – Auto-generate schematic drawings
Ecodesign has created an API which facilitates an interface between EPLAN P8 and Excel. This crucial link allows users to insert macros (typical circuits diagrams) created in EPLAN P8, with variables such as device tags, descriptions etc, as well as value sets, such as kW, directly into an Excel sheet.
Designers can thereafter autonomously populate those variables and seamlessly ‘auto-generate’ the schematic drawings, saving them 100’s of hours. Watch ESG video

Excel Data Preparation – to help optimize workflow
Paramount to optimizing workflow and ‘auto-generating’ schematic drawings, is data sorting and preparation. Most clients have their project data in an Excel file or data which could be extracted onto an Excel file.
Once the data is in Excel, we can then sort the data into a format which will allow designers to autonomously populate these variables, which are contained within the EPLAN macro, such as device tags and description, using VBA code. This then allows us to create a schedule of devices and equipment required in the schematic drawings.
Once the schedule is prepared, we then insert the required macro’s and import the variable from the schedule, and then seamlessly generate the schematic drawings into EPLAN P8.
